Unit of Measure

Define and manage units of measure (UoM) used across AeroTrack for parts, consumables, and procurement. The UoM master supports categorised units with conversion factors and includes a built-in unit converter for quick calculations between related units.

Browse Units
1 Open UoM List

Navigate to Masters → Units or go directly to /masters/units. The UoM list shows all defined units with their code, category, conversion factor, and base unit.

2 Column Reference
ColumnDescription
CodeShort identifier (e.g. EA, KG, LTR, MTR).
NameFull unit name (Each, Kilogram, Litre, Metre).
CategoryUnit category — Count, Weight, Volume, Length, or Area.
FactorConversion factor relative to the base unit (e.g. 1 KG = 1000 G, so G has factor 0.001).
Base UnitThe reference unit in this category against which factors are calculated.
Create a Unit
3 Open Add Form

Click the + New Unit button at the top of the UoM list. This opens the unit creation form at /masters/units/new.

4 Fill Unit Details

CodeYesShort code (2-5 characters). Must be unique. Use industry-standard abbreviations.
NameYesFull descriptive name of the unit.
CategoryYesSelect: Count, Weight, Volume, Length, or Area.
FactorNoConversion factor relative to the base unit. Leave as 1 for the base unit itself.
Base UnitNoSelect the base (reference) unit for this category. If this IS the base unit, leave blank.

Click Save to create the unit. It will be available in part master forms and procurement line items.

Common aviation UoMs: EA (Each) for discrete parts, LTR (Litre) for fluids, KG (Kilogram) for weight, MTR (Metre) for cables/tubing, SET for kits.
Unit Converter
5 Open the Converter

The unit converter is available on the UoM list page. Scroll below the unit table to find the Unit Converter panel. It allows you to convert quantities between any two units in the same category.

6 Perform a Conversion
FieldDescription
FromSelect the source unit (e.g. Kilogram).
ToSelect the target unit (e.g. Gram). Must be in the same category.
QuantityEnter the value to convert.
ConvertClick to calculate. The result appears below the button.
Conversion only works between units in the same category. You cannot convert Weight to Volume — select units from the same category (both Weight, both Length, etc.).

Click any unit row to open the edit form. All fields are editable.

Units linked to existing part master records or procurement line items cannot be deleted. You can only edit their name and description fields.
